This week we return to the guard position and work on what to do when someone stands in your guard, our first look at some sort of takedown. The key to this is to take their centre of gravity outside their legs and restrict their ability to rebalance.
Our drill this week is the wall walk. This is a very helpful move to retain guard and will help to give you the movements to off balance your partner.
A second drill this week is leg pummelling. This starts to get your hips moving and allows you to switch from an inside to an outside guard.
We cover three options on what to do when your partner stands in your guard. Whether you maintain a closed guard or control of their legs.
Again the advanced move this week works straight into a submission from the sweep. This is a straight leg lock, which is legal at white belt. Unlike knee bars and ankle locks which are not allowed at white belt level.
